About the event
Settle into a new moon mid-winter workshop with a group of no more than eight kind creatives on Saturday, January 21st, 10-4 ET via Zoom, and explore the now generally popularized Danish concept of 'hygge,' pronounced, hyoo-guh, a practice that centers on warmth, comfort, contentment, and kinship. How and when and where do you make time to (as Mary Oliver tells us) "let the soft animal of your body love what it loves?" What metaphors may we find in the "soft-sensing" of our surroundings? What sounds, scents, tastes, textures, and views support our more "velvety voices?" We'll use poetry, and snippets of prose, accompanied by a series of sensory prompts to get our pens moving, allowing whatever wants to arrive on the page. This six-hour workshop meets on Zoom with plenty of breaks involving radical self-care, including an hour for lunch and outdoor activity, and some writing and making off-screen. The deadline to register is January 18th.
