A Maine Coast Writing Retreat is a gathering of creatives, cultivating the heart of expression through our writing. What’s powerful about retreat is both the writer’s commitment to immersion and the community of trust and support we that we build. We look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful Pemaquid Peninsula where we find the muses broody, cheeky, heartfelt, hardworking, and lots of fun.
A retreat experience is a marriage of methodologies–––the Gateless Writing Method, The Gestalt Cycle of Experience, and Adventures in Word and Image–––all supported by taking time in nature. The work helps us to address the ever-present voice of the critic, whether the voice comes from outside of you or from within. Here, we slow down, pause, and allow the creative genius to emerge and shine.

The schedule is a flexible document and dependent on weather and tides, both in us and around us. The gist of it is this… Each session we meet together to share a lovely meal made with bounty from our local farms. We follow with a Gateless Salon, generating new writing and sharing work fresh from the page to receive pearls of purely positive feedback. Don’t worry if you’re new to this, we’ll show you!
You’ll receive an email upon registration to reserve your spot, and a second email three days prior to the date of your retreat with directions, a list of what to bring, final details, and a pre-retreat writing prompt.

Luminous Women Writers Summer Solstice Retreat
June 20-23, 2024
Join us for a Gateless Writing Weekend Retreat at Bird and Tree Studios on the beautiful Pemaquid Peninsula. We'll gather Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon and sink into an embodied practice of generative writing in the presence, inspiration, and support of others.
